Nintendo Is Planning 'A Variety of Projects' for Kirby's 30th Anniversary

Nintendo will celebrate Kirby's 30th anniversary this year with a "variety of projects" beginning with a free wallpaper being released on the game's official website.

Nintendo's latest financial results discuss the upcoming release of Kirby and the Forgotten Land before going on to talk about the series' anniversary.

"To celebrate that anniversary, we are planning a variety of projects in collaboration with the Kirby developer HAL Laboratory, aimed at sharing the charm of the Kirby series with many people," said Nintendo.

The report doesn't provide any further information as to what these projects will be, but Nintendo of America began the celebrations on Twitter by announcing that a free Kirby wallpaper is now available to download from its website.

The tweet said to "stay tuned for news regarding #Kirby30 activities coming soon."

Kirby and the Forgotten Land will likely be branded as one of these celebrations when it's released on March 25, marking the mainline Kirby series' first 3D action game.

Nintendo celebrated the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series last year with the announcement of Skyward Sword HD on Switch and themed Joy-Cons to release alongside it.

But with a big new Kirby game for Switch on the way already it's unlikely that Nintendo will announce a follow-up so soon.

Kirby's Dream Land, the series' first game, released on April 27, 1992, so Nintendo will perhaps use the exact anniversary to unveil its entire celebration plans.
