Nintendo Beats Profit Estimates Thanks To Switch Lite

Nintendo has beaten analyst profit estimations for the second quarter thanks to increased software sales provided by Nintendo Switch Lite users.

Boomberg reports that analysts predicted a 50.5 billion yen operating income for Nintendo, but the company has now revealed that it generated 66.8 billion yen ($615 million). Sales generated 271.9 billion yen, exceeding predictions of 250.8 billion.

Nintendo has set itself profit projections for the whole year, ending March 2020, that are notably below analyst estimates: 260 billion yen is forecast, despite analyst predictions of 308.1 billion yen and a series of strong upcoming games such as Pokemon Sword and Shield. The strong second quarter report has not caused Nintendo to increase that forecast.

Everything to Expect From Blizzcon 2019: Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, and Hong Kong Protests

Blizzcon 2019 is only a few days away and already Blizzard’s entire news cycles seem to have leaked. There are reports of a new World of Warcraft expansion, Diablo 4, and Overwatch 2 (or Chapter 2). With those in mind, here’s everything IGN expects to see at this year’s big Blizzard showcase. Not to mention the shadow of the Hong Kong protests looming over everything.

Overwatch 2

ESPN reported from sources familiar with Blizzard’s plans that the company will announce a sequel of sorts to Overwatch. Fans should expect something closer to the recent Fortnite Chapter 2 which is essentially a big new content update to the existing game.

Norman Reedus Talks Kojima's Directorial Style on Death Stranding

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Death Stranding star Norman Reedus described Hideo Kojima as a “genius’ genius” while discussing the enigmatic game developer’s directorial style.

While discussing how Kojima directed Death Stranding’s cutscenes – with or without all the necessary actors in the same room at times – Reedus described how oftentimes it was just down to he and Kojima, leading to peculiar interactions.

“A lot of times it was just me and Hideo. He would have a plastic baby doll on the ground and want me to cradle it and act like it’s dead. Then act like it’s alive,” Reedus said, seemingly referencing Death Stranding’s first major teaser trailer. "Then freak out because there’s handprints everywhere. You stand up and he goes, imagine there’s a thousand dead whales in front of you, and you’re like, 'What?!' His mind is on another level. He’s a genius’ genius. He and I got into a shorthand where he would look at me and he would point and frown and make a face and I would just go, yep, I got it. We sort of transcended the language barrier after a while.”

The PlayStation Blog revealed the games will be available from November 5 to December 3. They will replace The Last of Us Remastered and MLB: The Show 19.

Nioh was developed by Team Ninja, the team behind the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchises. IGN's Nioh review awarded the game a 9.6 out of 10 upon the game's release in February 2017. We said "Nioh is an epic, unforgettable adventure carried by a fierce combat system." A sequel was announced at Sony's E3 2018 conference with an open beta coming November 1 to November 10 on PlayStation 4.

PS4 Jumps Wii, PS1 on List of All-Time Best-Selling Consoles

PlayStation 2 has long reigned as the best-selling video game console of all time, with no imminent threat of losing that title. Despite the runaway success of PlayStation 4 over the last five-plus years, Sony would have to sell 10 million units a year for the next six years to overtake its own top spot — a massive improbability, if not an impossibility, given next-gen consoles may launch in 2020.

So while PlayStation 4 continues to secure its spot among the best-selling consoles of all time, we set out to discover how the rest of Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft's hardware stack up. To do so, we compiled a list of the 15 best-selling video game consoles of all time, with additional information on release dates, highest-rated games (according to Metacritic), and more.

Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter Free for November Games with Gold

Another month, another round of free games on Xbox Games With Gold. One of November’s big draws is Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter.

Released in 2002, Jedi Starfighter bridges the gap between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Set before and during the Battle of Geonosis, Jedi Starfighter tells the tale of Jedi Adi Gallia, who’s tasked with investigating Trade Federation activity in the Karthakk system, all from the seat of the recognizable Jedi starfighter ship.

We loved Jedi Starfighter back when it was released, giving it a 9 out of 10 in our review, despite some recycled gameplay tropes from the earlier Star Wars: Starfighter.

Opinion: Why I Want an Overwatch Story Campaign More than Overwatch 2

Editor's Note: This piece was originally published in June, but we've repromoted it and updated sections of it in time for Blizzcon.

For a game I still spend up to 20 hours a week playing, I’ll be the first to admit that Overwatch does have its problems. Yes, the inherent problems of balancing a 30-plus character hero-shooter roster plague it, the issues of its loot box culture are well documented, and not all are onboard with the new role lock system. None of these, however, affect my enjoyment of Overwatch enough; it’s still my favourite game.

PS4 Lifetime Sales Rise Above 100 Million

Sony has officially sold and shipped 102.8 million PlayStation 4 units, making it the second best-selling home console of all time.

According to Sony's Q2 FY2019 financial report, the platform holder sold an additional 2.8 million consoles in the last quarter, which, combined with the 100 million sales announced in July, pushes the total up to 102.8 million worldwide.

With these figures, the PS4 has now surpassed Nintendo Wii's 101.6 million and the original PlayStation's 102.5 million totals, but has not yet managed to eclipse the PS2, which maintains its position in the top-selling spot with a staggering 155 million units sold in its lifetime. When adding handheld gaming devices, PlayStation 4 is in fourth spot, closing on the Game Boy/Game Boy Color's 118.69 million units and the Nintendo DS family at 154.02 million.

Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Reveals Monstrous New Image

Larian Studios, the developer behind the recently announced Baldur’s Gate 3, has revealed a new slice of fresh hell from the forthcoming roleplaying game, depicting one of the tentacle-faced, brain-eating psionicists from the race of interplanar slavers called Ilithids — more commonly known as mind flayers.

Though scant on details, the image below reveals an illithid psionically floating through the darkened hallway of a nautiloid ship.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Breaks Multiple Sales Records

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has earned more than $600 million worldwide and has broken multiple sales records in its first three days of release.

Announced by Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's impressive first three days has earned it the following records;

Death Stranding Launch Trailer Gives You the Best Look at the Story Yet

The launch trailer for Death Stranding has arrived, and it provides the best look at the mysterious game's story that we've had so far. So much so, in fact, it may be a bit spoiler-y.

The huge trailer - eight minutes in length - takes a deeper dive into the premise of Death Stranding, offering a better look at the game's broad cast of characters.

For the first time, we get to see Higgs and Die-Hardman without their masks, as well as get a better understanding of Sam's mission. There's also plenty of shots of some really, really strange things: anyone up for dealing with a flying whale monster? Or how about a hundred-foot tall woman? It's all here.

If you're hoping to go into Death Stranding completely clean and with no idea about any of the story, this is probably not the trailer to watch. So proceed with caution!

Moons of Madness Review

You can tell that a lot of great Lovecraftian games are crafted with love for the 20th century writer’s vision of horror, but Moons of Madness often feels more like an interactive movie than a video game.  And I can’t help but wonder if it could have been more successful if it were. The story is decent though unfocused, but it suffers from the presence of gameplay that’s rarely more than busywork and often left me feeling as cold as the planet it’s set on.

Lovecraft and the cosmic-horror genre have found a comfortable home in video games. The early 20th century Massachusetts writer’s ideas have formed the basis of plenty of them in recent years, including Bloodborne and The Sinking City, but in Moons of Madness, developer Rock Pocket Games takes the ideas of the Ancient Ones in space to its logical endpoint by just putting you on Mars.

GTFO: 8 New Minutes of Developer Gameplay

After being unveiled at The Game Awards last year, GTFO has been eagerly anticipated as an Aliens-ish, four-player player-versus-enemy first-person shooter.

Little had been heard about it for much of 2019, but that has started to change recently. First, we exclusively went hands-on with the latest build and posted a four-player video (see the bottom of this page). And now, the developers at 10 Chambers Collective are showing off eight new minutes of their own gameplay from GTFO, which is due out sometime in 2020. Check out the video at the top of the page.

And here's the aforementioned exclusive 15-minute gameplay video we made recently, showing off four-player gameplay:

EA Won't Release a Battlefield Game Next Year, Breaking Usual Cycle

In the company's earnings call Tuesday, EA announced that it will not release a new Battlefield game next year. This is the first time EA has broken the usual one-and-a-half to two-year cycle between Battlefield games since Battlefield: Bad Company.

Games industry analyst Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners noted that EA confirmed it will release the next Battlefield game will ship in fiscal year 2022, which begins April 2021 and ends March 2022.

EA also confirmed that Apex Legends would be its primary focus (as far as shooter games) for 2020. EA is planning on porting Apex Legends to mobile and "other" platforms, as well as making inroads with China's video game industry and esports industry.

During EA’s quarterly financial earnings call for Q2 2020, EA executive vice president Blake Jorgensen revealed that the company will not release NBA Live 20. Instead, NBA Live will be redesigned for next-gen consoles.

EA Sports released the following statement on Twitter:

The Best Board Games for Parties

Traditionally most board games worked best for smaller groups. But more and more awesome tabletop experiences are coming out that cleanly and elegantly scale up to 10 or even more players, giving everyone something to do, a specific role to play, keeping people moving and shouting, and just generally having a good time. Not all games are suited for a party atmosphere, however; it would be counterintuitive to break out the hours-long Terra Mystica for a friendly get-together.

If you’re seeking a good game to break out at your next party, these are the best board games for parties and large groups.

Luigi's Mansion 3 Tips and Tricks

Luigi's Mansion 3 Review

I'm looking forward to the new Ghostbusters movie coming in 2020, but I'll be surprised if it's as much fun as Luigi's Mansion 3. The anxiety-riddled brother straps the vacuum pack back on for the first time since 2013’s Dark Moon for 3DS and headlines one of the funniest and most charming Nintendo games on the Switch yet.

Setting aside the nitpicking fact that Luigi and his friends are checking in at a hotel this time rather than an actual mansion, Luigi’s Mansion 3 had me smiling and laughing at its adorable sense of humor right off the bat. From Mario and Luigi’s goofy half-English, half-gibberish conversations to communicating with ghost-sucking vacuum backpack inventor Professor E. Gadd through a Virtual Boy (complete with a red-tinted interface and a joke about how “it’ll sell millions”), among other examples, Luigi’s latest adventure is downright funny.

Luigi's Mansion 3 Guide: Intro Walkthrough

This portion of the Luigi's Mansion 3 walkthrough covers the very beginning of the game. It includes how to check into this haunted hotel, searching the first few rooms, and how to find the Poltergust G-00.

Once you have your trusty vacuum and flashlight you'll be able to further explore the hotel and eventually find E.Gadd. Before that, you need to learn how to open the door to the first floor, fight your first ghosts, and head to the second floor. Getting through the door will require using a gold key which you can find behind the check-in desk.

When you get up there, you'll need one more key to get to a very important safe. Here, you'll get the Dark Light which you'll use to get Professor E.Gadd back. Once you have him alongside you, escort him back to the garage and fight the first boss of the game: an enraged bellhop.

Luigi's Mansion 3 Guide: How to Play 2 Player Co-Op and Unlock Gooigi

This portion of the Luigi's Mansion 3 guide explains how to play 2 player co-op which you can only do after you unlock Gooigi. And so, this page also explains how to unlock Gooigi. Please note that the main campaign can only be played via local co-op.

If you want to play online multiplayer, you can only do that in Scarescraper mode. This is a separate game mode in which players queue up online with random players (or with friends) and try to take on up to 10 floors of the hotel, accomplishing various challenges along the way.

How to Play 2 Player Co-Op (Unlock Gooigi)

You can play (almost) the entire Luigi's Mansion 3 campaign co-op but first you need to unlock Gooigi. He's unlocked at the end of your first official set of objectives. This means after the Intro Walkthrough and after you retrieve E.Gadd's briefcase and bring it back to his lab.

Telstra Is Now Slinging Xbox One Hardware Subscriptions in Australia

Xbox Australia has partnered with Telstra for a new subscription-based gaming package.

The ‘Xbox All Access’ gaming package bundles an Xbox One S or Xbox One X and two years of Xbox Games Pass Ultimate. The bundles also come with a download voucher for the fabulous Forza Horizon 4 (with the LEGO Speed Champions add-on DLC included).

The Xbox One S pack will be $27 per month for 24 months and the Xbox One X version will be $38 per month for 24 months. The bundles are only available to Telstra customers and the monthly cost is on top of any existing plan charges. That’s a minimum cost of $648 or $912 depending on the bundle. It’s not exactly the most cost-effective way to get an Xbox into your house (an Xbox One X can already be picked up at several local retailers for well under $500 and, at $15.95 a month, two years of Game Pass Ultimate will set you back a maximum $382.80) but there are no up-front fees.

Diablo 4 Art Book Leak Suggests Lilith Will Return

The Diablo 4 art book that was revealed in some pre-BlizzCon marketing has been leaked again, this time seemingly showing a page from within the book.

The page, posted on Twitter by World of Warcraft UI account WeakAuras, is focused on Lilith, the Succubus Queen who featured in Diablo 2’s Pandemonium Event. A highlighted quote references that Lilith in Diablo 4 is a reimagining of the character, with a significantly different appearance to the one used for her in Diablo 2. The pose does little to contextualize Lilith's role in the Diablo 4, and so it's unknown if she will act as the game's primary antagonist, or just another boss on the path to (presumably) Diablo himself. If, indeed, Diablo 4 exists, of course.

Afterparty Review

I’ve never beaten him in a fiddle contest, but I’m sure glad I got to challenge Lucifer to a drinking competition in Night School Studio’s second adventure game, Afterparty. The Oxenfree developers’ descent into the underworld retains its formula of 2D exploration with near-constant conversation and Telltale-like dialogue choices while introducing a world of neon-soaked demonic alleyways and dive bars that look... well, like most do on Earth. But inside that over-the-top demonic shell is a deeply human, cuttingly honest, and frequently funny story about two best friends making it through one hell of a night.

Afterparty’s tightly knit cast allows for more personal and affecting storytelling than what we saw in Oxenfree. Milo and Lola have, surprisingly, found themselves in Hell. Believing they’ve wrongly ended up surrounded by fire and brimstone for eternity, the duo ventures off to win a trip back to Earth by beating Satan in a drinking game. Should be easy enough, right?

SNL: Chance the Rapper Reports on League of Legends Tournament

Saturday Night Live host (and musical guest) Chance the Rapper brought back his clueless New York Knicks reporter character, Lazlo Holmes, who was last seen in November of 2017 trying his best to cover a hockey game.

This time around, Lazlo was thrown into the deep end of an esports event featuring arena battler League of Legends. Naturally, Lazlo was baffled by just about everything - from being asked his opinion on "Team Echo’s attack strategy" to the amount of female fans flocking to meet iconic player S3X PANDA 99.

You can watch a snippet of the sketch here...

Struggling to describe some of the Legends footage, Holmes, befuddled, states "This game looks like how a seizure feels."

The 'Fallout First' Web Domain Has Been Taken Over By a Hilarious Fan

Bethesda recently announced that Fallout 76 would be getting a $100-a-year subscription service called Fallout 1st. Unfortunately for Bethesda, the company neglected to claim the web domain, and it was instead taken over by a hilarious, and mildly irate, fan.

FalloutFirst.com (fair warning, some of the language used in this website would make a ghoul blush) lampoons the developer for charging a subscription fee to turn a multiplayer game (which many fans didn't want) into a single-player experience, after having already bought the game. The website ostensively parodies Bethesda's blog post announcing Fallout 1st, right down to its layout and included graphics.

Modern Warfare Looks Absolutely Incredible

I spent a few dozen hours playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at a review event last week, and walked away with a lot of positive impressions. Perhaps the most superficial and obvious of which is that Modern Warfare looks absolutely phenomenal. As a PC gamer in 2019, “next-generation graphics” is kind of a murky term -- but I think it applies here. Modern Warfare is running on a "new game engine" which is to say that major sections of Infinity Ward’s IW engine have been rewritten and now support features like 4K and ray tracing. This new-found fidelity was certainly noticeable when I played gunfight at Gamescom 2019, but it wasn’t until I sat down last week to play Modern Warfare’s single-player campaign in its entirety that the full effects of the visuals really sunk in.

Fallout 76: Why Fallout First Fails As a Subscription Service

Fallout: 76’s has had a tough run since it was released in late 2018. It reviewed poorly, launched with plenty of bizarre bugs (no, not your typical Rad Roaches), and endured a couple of PR nightmares right out of the gate, including leaking customer information via their support site and infamously shipping low-quality imitations of their promised collectors editions.

Obscenely Rare Pokemon Card Sells for Record-breaking $195,000

The rarest of rare Pokemon cards has just sold for a whopping $195,000 at auction. The card is none other than the Japanese “Pikachu Illustrator” card, one of only 39 in the world.

“What makes it so rare is that it was not sold, but awarded as a prize in an illustration contest through CoroCoro Comic,” the auction description explains. “This unique card was created specifically for the contest. In the January 1998 issue, three 1st Place winners won a copy of the card, as did another 20 2nd Place winners. With cards awarded in two more contests that year, there were a maximum of 39 copies released.”

Death Stranding Features a Conan O'Brien Cameo

US talk show host Conan O’Brien has revealed that he has a cameo in Death Stranding.

In a clip uploaded to the Conan YouTube channel, O’Brien can be seen visiting the Kojima Productions offices during a trip to Tokyo. After a brief profile of Death Stranding, Kojima is seen asking O’Brien if he’d like to be in the game. Presumably this was all arranged in advanced in order to make a joke out of it all, so naturally O’Brien agrees. And so commences a bizarre facial capture session.

While the clip is humorous in tone, O’Brien really is in the game. He’s… strange, too. As revealed by Kojima in a tweet, O’Brien’s character - The Wondering MC - will gift you a Sea Otter Suit when you connect with him. Yes, you can dress Sam up as a sea otter, and make him swim in a river like an otter. Just when you though Death Stranding couldn’t get any weirder.

Spin Rhythm XD Is a Rhythm Game That Makes Me Want to Buy a Musical Instrument

There’s a beautiful little touch in Spin Rhythm XD. Occasionally, you’ll be asked to just wildly spin the game’s onscreen controller - a two-tone disc responsible for playing almost all of the game’s notes. It’s a moment of exuberant action amidst a game all about small-scale perfection, the same feeling you used to get from Rock Band’s drum fills.

But what I love in particular is that, when you stop that spin and get ready to keep playing your chosen electronic cut, the game always leaves the disc in the perfect position to play the next note. It’s a miniature masterstroke of design, a way to simultaneously make the game feel fair, and keep you perfectly in the flow (not to mention feeling amazingly good at a game that gets pretty punishing pretty quickly).

Fallout 76 Now Has a $100-a-Year Subscription Service

Fallout 76 has revealed a new subscription service, Fallout 1st, which allows players to play alone in private worlds, among other things.

Launching today, and priced at $12.99 a month, or $99.99 a year (that's £11.99 / £99.99 in the UK, Australian prices not available at time of writing), Bethesda explains that a Fallout 1st membership gets you:

MediEvil Review

It’s downright impressive that, even after more than 20 years, the bulk of MediEvil’s DNA hasn’t lost an ounce of its charm. That’s due in part to the fact that the original hack-and-slash adventure was ahead of the times for 1998 in many ways, and it’s deserving of its cult classic status. A lot of credit, though, has to go to the incredible work developer Other Ocean has done in recreating it for this new, ground-up remake, which stays true to its roots – although to a fault in a lot of ways. MediEvil walks a fine line between reinventing itself and being the same game that people remember from the PS1, and too often places nostalgia over modernizing itself to be palatable for an audience in 2019.

The Outer Worlds Probably Won't Go Open-World For a Sequel

Developer Obsidian is eager to create a sequel to The Outer Worlds and turn the RPG into a series, but the team is wary of making the series open-world.

Talking to Game Informer, when asked about an open-world sequel co-game director Leonard Boyarsky said “Possibly. But I think the franchise leans a little bit away from that. It’s a pulpy space opera where you’re a guy or woman who flies from place to place, exploring a solar system. So to have one giant map defeats that.”

See what we think of The Outer Worlds in the review above.

Echoing that idea was narrative designer Nitai Poddar, who added “I’m always skeptical of this idea that seems to be going around in AAA development that open-world is the standard. That if you’re going to have a very big budget game that it should be open-world.”

The Outer Worlds Review

The Outer Worlds is the “you got chocolate in my peanut butter” of RPGs. Obsidian, a developer that’s made sequels to both BioWare’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Bethesda’s Fallout 3, has merged those two distinctive flavors, and they taste great together. I wouldn’t quite call this space-frontier themed adventure the best of both, but it’s a creative and well-made take that’s both familiar and new all at once.

The Outer Worlds takes place in a solar system-wide colony ruled by corporate feudalism and filled with dark humor. Everywhere you look there’s a satirical slogan or crazy-eyed mascot, a worker being treated as hilariously disposable, and oppressive propaganda and policies keeping everybody in line. And, as a big fan of the short-lived sci-fi western show Firefly, I spotted its influences everywhere. From the on-the-nose “Firefly” branding on the energy weapon ammo to the fact that your junky transport’s young naive engineer lady talks pretty much exactly like Kaylee, it’s layered on thick in a way I appreciated. It isn’t hard to picture Captain Malcolm Reynolds reading off some of the more sarcastic dialogue options, either.

Why Kamala Khan Was Chosen For Marvel's Avengers' Protagonist

Crystal Dynamics has offered a little more insight into why it chose Ms. Marvel as the protagonist for Marvel’s Avengers over other, more well-known superheroes.

Talking to IGN at EGX 2019 in London, where Virgin Media held the UK’s first play of Marvel’s Avengers, senior producer Rose Hunt explained that Kamala Khan was chosen because her personality is very relatable for people playing, and that her lack of history allows the studio more freedom when crafting her story for the game.

Check out the reveal of Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel below.

“When Marvel brought

up as a possibility for us, we were super excited about her,” says Hunt. “Because she's a fan girl like us. She's a fan of the Avengers like the whole world is, so we thought that she would be a super relatable character to be our protagonist.”

Gears 6 Could Get Inspiration From an Unlikely Source

Considering the critical success of Gears 5, it’s not too difficult to imagine Gears 6 is already in the works. But according to The Coalition’s art director, a potential Gears 6 may get visual inspiration from an interesting source.

Iran-based video game composer Hamidreza Nikoofar has a podcast series called Wassup Conversations where Nikoofar speaks with various developers. A recent episode featured a conversation with Gears 5 art director Aryan Hanbeck, who revealed a surprising inspiration for a possible Gears 6.

“One thing – the guys here will probably laugh if they see this – but I’ve been telling all the artists nonstop to go watch Handmaid’s Tale… The composition, the color, and just the cinematography and symbolism is just off the charts,” Hanbeck says. “So, I watched that and I’m like, ‘Wow we gotta find a way to get more of this stuff in Gears 6.’”

Opinion: Video Games Have (Happily) Outgrown Their Genre Labels

Video games conjure entire worlds from polygons and code that we spend days exploring, so it’s no surprise we talk about them constantly - like sailors peeling off our stiff, salty clothes to tell tales of adventure around a table. Our stories usually begin in a similar way. Your friend might ask, “have you heard of

? It’s a 2D puzzle platformer.” Or think of the podcast host who describes a game they played recently as “a team-based multiplayer first-person-shooter.”

But what do they actually mean? The podcast host was describing Counter-Strike, but “team-based multiplayer first-person-shooter” could equally apply to Apex Legends or Team Fortress 2. The “2D puzzle platformer” label outlined Little Nightmares (a game about guiding a tiny, yellow-coated child to escape a hide-and-seek horror gauntlet) but could just as easily have described Celeste (a meditative platformer about a woman climbing a mountain that’s a metaphor for her anxiety).

Original Assassin’s Creed Director Apologizes for Towers

Patrice Désilet, the director of the first two Assassin’s Creed games, has jokingly apologized for introducing the much-mocked tower climbing mechanic to video games.

Talking at EGLX in Toronto, Désilet answered a question that asked if he was happy with being known as the “Assassin’s Creed guy”.

“A little bit! If you’re going to spend years on something I hope that happens,” he answered, reports Destructoid. “Breath of the Wild, wow! That was a game where you could do anything, once you finished the first half hour or so. Now, you’re going to just climb towers and unfog the rest of the map. Sorry – it’s my fault!”

How Marvel's Avengers' Gear Works

A big part of Marvel’s Avengers will be gear; it is a game with several Destiny vibes, afterall. So far, though, developer Crystal Dynamics has been coy with the details. Eager to learn a little more, IGN attended EGX 2019 in London, where Virgin Media held the UK’s first play of Marvel’s Avengers. There we were able to chat with Crystal Dynamics co-studio head Scot Amos about gear and character appearances.

Take a look at how Ms. Marvel works in the latest Avengers trailer below.

“Gear comes in all kinds of rarities, from common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, and even beyond,” Amos explains (We're placing bets now that ‘beyond’ is Excelsior rarity).

Diablo 4 Seemingly Leaked by Art Book Advert

A Blizzard advertisement in the latest issue of German magazine GameStar has seemingly leaked the existence of Diablo 4.

A full-page advert on page 27 of the latest issue of GameStar features a segment for the upcoming The Art of Diablo hardback book, which is due for release in November. The description of the book reads: “Featuring over 500 artworks from Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo III and Diablo IV, this book features many noteworthy artworks created for Blizzard Entertainment’s iconic action RPG.”

A picture of the page has been circulating on Twitter, but GameStar itself has reported on the advert on its website. The article explains that the magazine will be available to purchase from October 23. As of writing, Diablo IV has not been officially announced, and it seems unlikely it will within the next two days.

Have you noticed your eyes straining lately when you’re playing your games? Maybe a migraine or two on that 12th Apex Legends game? That harsh blue light coming from your TV or Switch screen is almost definitely responsible. These things are basically the big name brand in tinted glasses designed for gaming, getting rid of that blue light and filtering it into more of a soft yellow so your eyes aren’t screaming at you by 10 p.m. Gunnar has some great deals on two pairs right now.

Resident Evil 2 Mod Turns Untitled Goose Game Into a Honking Nightmare

Geese are scary, but you knew that going into Untitled Goose Game, as you chased around innocent children and grumpy gardeners. Well now a Resident Evil 2 modder has made the survival horror remake all the more terrifying by adding an oversized Goose in place of Mr. X.

The modder, known as Alister/ZombiAli, is also responsible for that ridiculous Thomas the Tank Engine mod that similarly replaced the towering Mr. X with the children’s show character. Take a gander at the GIF below and you’ll see Alister’s newest work, showing the Untitled Goose lifting the crashed helicopter out of the way to pursue Claire Redfield.
