The Borderlands series has made a name for itself with excellent gunplay, zany stories, and more, popularizing the looter-shooter genre over the last decade-plus. But with three mainline games and a plethora of spinoffs, many have wondered where the Gearbox Software posterchild would go next. The answer is Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, and we're showing off some brand new gameplay in today's video!
Join your hosts Alex Stadnik and Wes LeBlanc as they wallop their way through this truly bananas new game world. Instead of taking place in the sci-fi world of Pandora, our titular hero, voiced by Ashly Burch, is leading her star-studded party (including Andy Samberg and Wanda Sykes) through a game reminiscent of Dungeons and Dragons, but with all the loot and Borderlands humor you've come to expect from the series.
In this fresh episode of New Gameplay Today, the boys are showing off the new weapons and powers players will get their hands on when the game launches on March 25. Because it takes place in a high fantasy setting, the familiar weapons are replaced with something a bit more magical (though still feeling right at home for anyone who's played the series).
We also show off the game's replacement for grenades in spells. These magical attacks feel tremendous and offer great buffs and explosive powers that make each encounter with the enemy goblins feel exciting. Speaking of goblins, we also dive into an entirely optional portion of the game, where you help the character Jar on a quest to help liberate her fellow green monsters and attain their freedom.
Enjoyed this look at Tiny Tina's Wonderlands? We'll have more coverage of the game ahead of its release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, including a chat on this week's episode of The Game Informer Show. For more New Gameplay Todays, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on some of the hottest games of the year and beyond, including looks at Elden Ring, Gran Turismo 7, and GhostWire: Tokyo in 4K!
The latest batch of game consoles have not exactly been easy to find in stock. That has only recently changed, and only really for the Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch OLED, both of which can often be found in stock at various retailers. But right now, for the first time, you can grab an Xbox Series S on sale for $249.99, a full $50 off the MSRP. The deal is live at Woot, and it's only available today for as long as supplies last. If you could use one, now's the time to grab it. This is the best Xbox Series S deal we've seen yet.
Xbox Series S: Save $50
Woot is owned by Amazon, and Amazon Prime members get free shipping on the deal (you can sign up here). Otherwise, shipping is $6, which still puts it comfortably in "the best Xbox Series S deal we've ever seen" territory.
The Xbox Series S is the digital-only model of the latest-generation console from Microsoft. It can run all the same games the Series X can run, but it does so at a lower resolution, making it a good choice for people who don't plan on upgrading to a 4K TV anytime soon. It also makes a good second console for anyone who might not have access to their main TV all the time (thanks, roommates/kids/etc.).
Being a digital-only console, the Series S lacks a disc drive, which means you can only play downloadable games on it. This is fine for many people, especially if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, which gets you access to a huge library of Xbox games, including all first-party titles on day one. That means you can play games like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, along with tons of indies and third-party titles like The Sims 4 and Back 4 Blood (and other games, potentially even ones without the number four in the title).
This is by far the best deal we've seen yet on a new-gen console. In fact, it's one of the only deals we've seen yet. So if you want it, grab it. It's not likely to stick around for long.
The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet reveal trailer is full of brand new information, but eagle-eyed fans believe it also helps prove there was a hint to the new games inside 2019's Sword and Shield.
Reddit user DDD-HERO posted an image of Sword and Shield's Hotel Ionia in Circhester. Since launch the hotel has featured a roped-off room with wallpaper decorated with oranges and grapes, seemingly not seen elsewhere in the game.
While this sounds odd, oranges and grapes also appear to be a part of the visual theming in Scarlet and Violet. The new games' location appears to be based on Spain, which is known for its blood oranges and grapes – both fruits feature throughout the new trailer, and could be seen to represent the colours of scarlet and violet.
The gameplay clips don't reference this too much - although we do see a few orange trees in the new open world - but the live-action portion of the trailer shows mounted shields featuring the two fruits, and a fruit bowl full of them too.
Fans therefore think that developer Game Freak was teasing Scarlet and Violet in Sword and Shield by including the cordoned-off area. Other theories go as far as to presume the area will be opened up and include cross-generation interactivity when the new games are released.
You can see the images of oranges and grapes in the Scarlet and Violet trailer below:
An update to DDD-HERO hero's Reddit post includes what's being seen as another potential reference to the future games, this time in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. In the original Diamond and Pearl, a patch of flowers in the games' starting town were white, but the remakes change them to a scarlet and violet pattern.
Coming in late 2022, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are promised to be an "evolutionary" step for the franchise set in an "open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness."

The Batman's Robert Pattinson has shared his love for Final Fantasy 7 and the Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa "love triangle" that caused him a lot of (Cloud) strife growing up.
Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz were being interviewed by Clique and Pattinson began excitedly talking about Final Fantasy 7, specifically the difficult choice of having to choose to fall in love with Aerith or Tifa.
“I was in love with Aeris & Tifa.” -robert pattinson about the Final Fantasy 7 love triangle pic.twitter.com/cnHmhpJmm7
"I was in love with Aeris & Tifa," Pattinson revealed. "It’s the two options of girls… It’s a love triangle where Aeris, or Aerith depending on what version of the game you have… its sometimes mistranslated. She’s really kind girl that has superpowers to heal everyone and make the world a better place…"
"Poor women, we have to heal everyone," Kravitz interjected. "It's exhausting."
"And Tifa is this sexy little thing, she’s like a thief and wears this short skirt, and you’re like, ‘I can’t decide!' Then Aerith, right at her peak, gets killed," Pattinson continued. "This is how every guy who plays figures out what love is..."
"The one that’s going to heal everything and the one in the short skirt? These are the options? Oh my god, this is the problem with the world,” Kravitz responded.
During his press tour for Tenet, Robert Pattinson revealed to GameSpot that Final Fantasy 7 was his favorite game of all time. He even admitted that it was one of the few times he cried in his life when Aeirth, his "first love," was killed by Sephiroth.

If you were looking to add the mythical Pokémon Shaymin to your party or your Pokédex in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, today’s your lucky day.
That’s because Shaymin will soon be available to catch in the remakes later today as a Mystery Gift event. Announced during today’s Pokémon Day stream, which also saw the reveal of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet alongside the Daybreak Update for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Shaymin hits the game via something called Oak’s Letter.
After receiving the Oak’s Letter Mystery Gift, you’ll be able to encounter Shaymin and catch the mythical Pokémon and add it to your team. As noted by the trailer, it takes approximately two hours of play time before the Mystery Gift feature is unlocked in new playthroughs of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
You have plenty of time, though, to take part in this Mystery Gift event because while it’s live starting today, it will be remain live until March 27 so you have over a month to add Shaymin to your Pokédex.
The Pokemon Company has announced that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, a brand new open world Pokemon adventure, will be released on Nintendo Switch in late 2022.
Announced During Pokemon Day 2022's Pokemon Presents, these two new Game Freak-developed games will feature a new region and its three starters have already been revealed. Sprigatito the Grass Cat has the Overgrow ability and its description says they are "capricious" and "attention-seeking." Fuecoco the Fire Croc has the Blaze ability and is "laid-back" and "does things at its own pace." Quaxly the Water Duckling has the Torrent ability and is "earnest and tidy."

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is getting a new update, Version 1.1.0, otherwise known as Daybreak, later today.
Announced today during the Pokémon Day stream, which ended with the reveal of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Daybreak will add a new investigation to Game Freak’s latest pocket monster RPG. You’ll be tasked with beginning an investigation into a new phenomenon that is causing a mass outbreak of what appear to be Alpha Pokémon.
As you can see in the trailer above, the phenomenon is causing some of the most challenging types of Pokémon in the game to appear all over the place and it seems it will be up to you to figure out first what’s going on, and then discover a way to stop it. It’s not a bad time to be catching some powerful Pokémon if you’re up to the challenge, though.
The Daybreak update will also bring new Pokémon battles to the training grounds in-game. Seemingly addressing one of players’ biggest complaints, this new update will make it so that there are more Pokémon battles against other trainers to take part in. As for how many or how often, who knows but fortunately, we don’t have to wait long to find out because the Daybreak update hits Pokémon Legends: Arceus later today.
To coincide with Pokémon Day, players who use the password "ARCEUSADVENTURE" in-game will receive 30 Ultra Balls, 30 Gigaton Balls, and 30 Jet Balls.
The next mainline Pokémon games have been revealed as Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, and they’ll be released on the Switch in “late 2022.”
This news comes by way of today’s Pokémon Day steam. Pokémon Red and Blue were released in Japan on February 27, 1996 and these days, The Pokémon Company celebrates the yearly anniversary with a stream about all of its games, including updates and more for them. This year’s included plenty of that, but it ended with the big reveal that Generation 9 is coming this year.
The trailer begins with a security guard at Game Freak checking something out before it transitions to footage from Scarlet and Violet. Adopting the look of Sword and Shield (although with significant graphical upgrades), this game appears to be set in a region such as Italy, or perhaps somewhere in South America based on some of the architecture. Regardless, the trailer features plenty of sweeping vistas, familiar pocket monster faces, and beautiful use of color.
Perhaps most exciting to fans is the big reveal of the Generation 9 starters, which appear to be a Grass-type cat or dog, a Fire-type Totodile-like Pokémon, and a Water-type duck. All three of them look great and we can’t wait to see what they evolve into later this year.
Game Freak says these games will hit the Switch in Late 2022 so expect a release date to be revealed at a later time for somewhere around October or November. While waiting for that, read up on all of the other Pokémon Day announcements.

Nintendo has made the decision to not have any Super Smash Bros. game be part of EVO 2022, the world's largest fighting game tournament that is now owned by Sony, for the first time since 2007.
EVO shared a letter announcing the news on Twitter ahead of the EVO 2022 announcement show on March 8 at 5pm PTT/8pm ET.
"Please join us March 8 at 5pm PST on twitch.tv/evo for the EVO 2022 announcement show," EVO wrote. "While we're thankful for all the amazing games joining us later this year in Las Vegas, we want to let you know in advance that Super Smash Bros. will not be making a return appearance.
"Since 2007, we've seen historic Super Smash Bros. moments created at EVO's events. We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year. In the future, we hope to once again celebrate the Super Smash Bros. community alongside them."
Nintendo's choice to not be part of EVO follows Sony's purchase of the fighting game tournament in 2021. At the time of the acquisition announcement, Nintendo said that it wishes the show's organizers the best and that it will continue to assess EVO in the future. That decision, at least for now, appears to have been made.
"Nintendo has enjoyed engaging with fans at past Evo tournaments and wish the show organizers the best with their new venture. We will continue to assess Evo, and other opportunities, as we plan for future online and offline Super Smash Bros. tournament activity.” A spokesperson for Nintendo said in March 2021.
EVO 2022 is currently set to take place from August 5-7 in Las Vegas.
So, not only will 2022 be the first year without new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate content as in 2021 Sora was the final DLC fighter to be released, but fans will also have to look elsewhere to see competitive Smash battles.

If you’re looking for specific secrets to look for as you traverse the Lands Between, you’ll want to check back in a few days for some ways to find some hidden areas and bosses. Today, we’ll walk through some strategies to get the most out of your exploration in the vast open world and legacy dungeons that you’ll experience on your journey and explain how some of the more nebulous overarching concepts work. Obviously, if you’re looking to head into the incredible world of Elden Ring completely spoiler-free, this is the time to stop reading.
God Runes, How Do They Work?
When you defeat one of the shard-bearing demigods of Elden Ring, you’ll acquire their god rune. However, in order to activate it, you will also have to locate and climb a divine tower in the associated region. Depending on the demigod, these could be very easy to find in the surrounding territory and easy to locate on the map. However, some of the demigod towers are tucked quite out of the way and require considerable exploration to discover. You may even have to delve into some of the smaller dungeons to find a route. Once you climb a divine tower and activate the god rune, you can then use a Rune Arc to activate its associated powers, which could include life leech, a massive boost to HP, buffs to all your stats, and more. These buffs confer considerable power but expire upon death. Yes, that makes them somewhat similar in execution to Embering in Dark Souls III; however, you have more choice in which buff to apply. If you find yourself in need of Rune Arcs, rats drop them fairly frequently, and they can be purchased from a variety of characters in the world.
How To Obtain Boss Weapons And Armor
Okay, so you’ve managed to take on one of the big bosses. Now you want to wear their armor and maybe pick up their weapons or signature spells. What’s an adventurer to do? Head over to the Roundtable Hold – there’s an open room you may not have checked out before. Here, you can cash in your “boss souls” for special weapons and spells, as well as purchase complete armor sets for runes. Now, what if you want more than one boss weapon or spell to round out your ensemble? Because you only get one token from the boss, right? Here’s what you do – head out into the open world and find one of the giant bell-ringing stone monstrosities that walk the land. Hop on Torrent, and clean off their feet by whacking the skulls off. Be careful, because they can and will absolutely crush you if they step on you. Once cleaned, the giant ponderous beasts will stay still and allow you to climb inside. Here, you can make a copy of a boss token so that you can get additional turn-ins, or just crush them for additional runes. Enjoy!
Light Is Might
The early journey into Limgrave may find you using torches to see in some of the darker caverns that dot the landscape. However, this is an annoying hindrance that takes up one of your hands. Instead, make a point to seek out a lantern as early as possible, which you can attach easily to your hip to light up any area, hands-free! This will be especially useful as you delve into late-game caves and other dark areas where you’ll need everything at your disposal. There are several different locations to pick up a lantern, but one can be found for purchase early on at the Isolated Merchant’s Shack in the Weeping Penninsula in southern Limgrave, far to the west and on the coast. This merchant also sells a ton of other useful stuff like Stonesword Keys, so it’s a good place to dump some runes early.
Upgrading Your Gear (And Summons!)
One of the most important things you can do in Elden Ring is to increase your weapon level. Standard weapons can be upgraded to +25 and special weapons up to +10. Doing this requires special materials, which you can often find in great abundance in mines around the world. However, you may find yourself in need of plenty of these mats, especially since you are probably going to want to level up multiple weapons and experiment. Since you might run dry of a certain tier of upgrade material, the best way to ensure your supply never runs dry is to keep doing the side dungeons around the world, especially the mines. By completing certain mines, you will gain a bell bearing that you can turn in at the Roundtable Hold that will unlock various tiers of upgrade materials for purchase, meaning you can take tons of weapons up to high levels without tracking down materials all day. This also extends toward your array of summon spells, as you can find bell bearings that will allow you to purchase ghostwort and the other essential materials for summon upgrades as well, generally at the end of catacombs dungeons. Can't figure out how to summon? Head to the Church of Ellah (where there's the do-it-yourself blacksmithing forge and Kale the vendor) after you get Torrent and the ability to level up, and meet the new character there. She'll give you the bell to take advantage of this feature. Keeping your gear leveled up will ensure you can handle the challenges to come! If you’re a heavy melee build and don’t have the mana pool to summon some of the coolest named summons, don’t fear too much – there are a few summons that let you summon with your HP pool instead!
Swap Arts And Affinities
Have a really cool weapon but you don’t like the special skill? Change it! Yes, you can attach skills like Quickstep to go full Bloodborne to just about anything if you so desire! This system is highly customizable but may seem daunting to work with at first. You will discover tons of Ashes as you progress, and you can mix and match these to your weapons. Perhaps even more importantly, you can change the nature of your weapons as well, allowing them to scale differently or harder. Weapons in Elden Ring scale with your stats. Going a heavy dexterity build? Swap out your sword's affinities and have it scale with heavy dex rather than, say, strength. This system might be tough to understand at first, but it allows for unparalleled customization opportunities. Here’s a big plus - if you don’t feel like messing with this system, you don’t have to, as many of the unique weapons in the game have their own special moves that can’t be swapped or changed. No problem!
Go Somewhere Else
A lot of players are trying to brute force challenging bosses down. While you can definitely do this, a more entertaining and rewarding option is to go explore. I know this can seem obvious with the open world, but sometimes you really get stuck in the old ways of just smashing your face against a boss again and again. I mean, that can be fun, but go ride around! Even if you think you’ve completely explored an area and farmed it out for every scrap, there’s probably a portal or secret passage that could take you to another realm entirely. The world is incredibly big, and there are often ways to bypass things that may seem like requirements to proceed. Break everything and experiment!
Crafting Can Make All The Difference
Craft everything and work on your Flask of Wondrous Physick options. One of your first goals should be to head out to Eastern Limgrave to the Third Church of Marika and pick up the Flask of Wondrous Physick. This modular buffing tool grows over the course of the game as you unlock plentiful options, usually from slaying Erdtree bosses. Some of the more potent buffs you can stick in the Flask allow you to basically soak up an entire hit for free and automatically heal when your health is low, which are fantastic when going up against a tough boss. Perfumes and pots are incredibly handy in combat; there’s a perfume that allows you to soak up an entire blow. Combining that with the Flask, that’s like two fully immune hits in a boss fight, which can make life a lot easier! And that’s just scratching the surface, as you can craft a huge array of consumables to complement your playstyle. Buy and pick up every recipe you see. You never know when you might want to make something!
Every good JRPG usually ends with the player killing God. But never has a game made me want to defeat an all-powerful deity more than Pokemon Legends: Arceus has.
That's because the titular character of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, aka the Pokemon God themself, is far from a benevolent, kind being that cares about their creation. Instead, Arceus is a massive evil jerkward that doesn't care about the world a bit, and provokes the most tragic story a Pokemon game has ever told.
Warning: This article and the video embedded contain major spoilers for the entire storyline of Pokemon: Legends Arceus, including the post-game. Watch only if you don't care about spoilers or have finished the entire main story quest.
In this video breakdown of the game's ending, I go over the ways in which Arceus proves themself throughout Pokemon Legends to be not merely chaotic neutral, but thoroughly evil. Its crimes include kidnapping children, causing permanent amnesia in train conductors, trapping benevolent demigods in horrible upside down dimensions, ignoring the plight of the people they're meant to protect, foisting all its responsibilities onto others who are less equipped to handle them, and ditching their godly responsibilities to play collect-a-thon games and go off on larks across the country. You know, for funsies.
And unlike the major tragedies of other Pokemon games, Pokemon Legends: Arceus doesn't get a happy ending for those Arceus made to suffer the most. Unless, of course, DLC is coming, in which case we have to pay extra money for a satisfying ending to these divinely-inflicted tragedies.
In the end, Pokemon Legends: Arceus doesn't let us kill God, but the Pokemon God sure proves they would deserve it if it did.
Marvel and Fortnite are once again teaming up for a new comic mini-series that will launch in June 2022 and star Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Shuri.
As detailed on Marvel.com, Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War follows 2020's Fortnite X Marvel - Nexus War: Thor and has our heroes on the hunt for a crystallized fragment of the Zero Point that was sent to the Marvel Universe. Spider-Man and Wolverine will team up with Shuri and "several fan-favorites from Fortnite" to find this Zero Shard.
Spider-Geddon's Christos Gage will be writing the story and he is teaming up with Epic Games' CCO Donald Mustard and artist Sergio Davila (Captain Marvel) to bring this series to life that will have "enormous ramifications for both universes."
Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War will contain five issues and those who are subscribed to Marvel Unlimited and read all of the comics will be able to unlock a code for a cosmetic in Fortnite. Each first print issue will also contain a code to unlock a bonus digital cosmetic in the battle royale.
One week following each book's release, the cosmetics will be made available for purchase in Fortnite's Item Shop. Details on what these items will be will come at a later date.
“At its heart, the series is an adventure story, with characters from both universes coming together to go on a treasure hunt into the deepest, darkest depths of the Marvel Universe.” Marvel Comics editor Alanna Smith said, “Donald Mustard and Christos Gage have such a deep love for both Fortnite and Marvel, and Sergio Davíla is turning in some absolutely unreal pages. Having the amazing Leinil Francis Yu on main covers and a killer lineup of Marvel artists on variants has been a real gift as well. This is going to be the ultimate team-up, where the best of both Fortnite and Marvel are represented.”

After tackling Metroid in season 1 and then Halo in season 2, Game Informer's Video Gameography podcast turns its gaze to one of Sony's biggest properties: Uncharted. Now, halfway through the series, we reach one of the more divisive entries: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.
Developed by Naughty Dog, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception was a big release for Sony's PlayStation 3 console on November 1, 2011. After the success of Uncharted 2 and it's blockbuster setpieces, Naughty Dog upped the stakes and pushed to include even more spectacular action moments. Unfortunately, that put a toll on development. In this episode, we talk about Uncharted 3's renewed focus on melee combat, how Last of Us' development impacted the team, and why Uncharted 3 almost shipped with a game-breaking bug.
Join hosts Ben Reeves (@BenjaminReeves), Marcus Stewart (@MarcusStewart7), and co-founder and the CEO of Kinda Funny Greg Miller (@GameOverGreggy) as we unpack the history and impact of Nathan Drake's third outing.

Platform: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC Publisher: Bandai Namco Developer: From Software Release:
Elden Ring is the largest From Software game to date, certainly the studio’s best work, and full of secrets and challenges around literally every corner. I understand how intimidating the renowned developer’s releases are to a newcomer, so I’ve created an Elden Ring beginner’s guide containing nine essential tips for new players to help make the most of your journey to The Lands Between.
After venturing into the open world, the crafting kit should be your first purchase. You can buy the item from the merchant found in the Church of Elleh, which is north of the starting area, for 300 Runes. The Crafting Kit unlocks recipes for potent perfumes, weapon greases, throwable pots, health items for your mount, valuable buffs, and a lot more – all of which will make your time playing Elden Ring more dynamic.
Learn To Run Away
There are many powerful enemies populating the world of Elden Ring, and you’ll encounter several of them in your first few hours. You aren’t meant to defeat some of the game’s challenges right away. Instead, you should explore, level up, and come back later with increased knowledge and skill.
Sites of Lost Grace Point Toward Primary Objectives
Like bonfires and lanterns in From Software’s previous games, Sites of Lost Grace are the checkpoints you’ll be chasing after in Elden Ring. These locations serve as fast travel points, storage management, and safe areas in most dungeons. Your health, focus points, and reusable flasks are restored when you rest at a Site of Grace, and you can also use these checkpoints to level up character stats or memorize new spells.
Additionally, these safe areas will point toward your main objective. If you’re feeling lost or you’re not sure where to go next, try finding another Site of Lost Grace and explore the surrounding region.
How To Unlock Spirit Summons
Spirit Summons are an essential tool in Elden Ring. While they never do much damage, even when you upgrade them at the Roundtable Hold, spirits help tank damage from bosses or large groups of enemies. They can even help you interrupt or stagger intimidating foes. There are many different kinds of Spirit Summons, all of them resembling opponents you’ve faced in the world. You can summon wolves, floating jellyfish, or even Godrick Soldiers that wield shields, swords, and crossbows. Each companion behaves differently, so it’s crucial to find one that best matches your playstyle or current scenario. These collectible items are littered across the massive world of Elden Ring, and you’ll naturally find them by exploring and fighting enemies.
However, it is entirely possible to miss the Spirit Calling Bell, necessary for summoning spirits. To unlock it, head to the Church of Elleh at night time. You’ll find the church ruins just up the hill from First Step, the game’s starting area, but be cautious of the Tree Sentinel guarding the path. After resting at the church’s Site of Grace, a particular NPC will visit you and gift you the Spirit Calling Bell, allowing you to use any of the Spirit Summons you might’ve collected.
Lastly, know that while you have access to them during every boss fight and in most open-world areas, you can’t use Spirit Summons everywhere. You’ll know you can use Spirit Summons when there’s a blue archway symbol on the left side of your HUD.
Dodge Roll Speed Correlates To Equipment Load
Every piece of equipment has an associated weight, and if you don’t properly manage your build, you’ll end up being too slow to be effective. The speed of your dodge roll correlates to a percentage of your equipment load: light roll is at 30% equip load, medium roll up to 70%, heavy roll at 71%, and if you exceed 100%, you’ll be over-encumbered and unable to dodge. For first-time players, I recommend staying within the medium range. Still, you can always level up your endurance to increase your equipment load threshold to carry heavier items while maintaining quicker dodge speeds.
Upgrade Your Weapons As Soon As Possible
Besides observing and studying the world around you, the best way to improve at Elden Ring is to upgrade your weapons. Weapon levels play a huge role in the amount of damage you deal, especially against early bosses like Margit The Fell Omen. To upgrade your weapon in the early hours, visit the Church of Elleh and use the anvil next to the wandering merchant. However, you’ll need to visit the Roundtable Hold (unlocked by progressing the primary objective) and speak to Blacksmith Hewg, who will allow you to upgrade armaments and equip or duplicate new weapon skills.
You can upgrade regular weapons to level 25 with Smithing Stones, while special weapons can reach level 10 with Somber Smithing Stones. Regardless, you’ll need to explore the world or loot enemies to find these resources. Trust me; you’ll be happy when you see them.
Upgrade Your Flasks By Exploring
As you explore The Lands Between, you’ll discover Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears, two items used for upgrading your reusable flasks at Sites of Lost Grace. You can find Golden Seeds accompanying Minor Erd Trees, small saplings that glow with a gold hue, while Sacred Tears reside in various churches scattered across the world. Golden Seeds increase the number of flask charges you have, while Sacred Tears enhance the amount each flask replenishes.
You can reallocate your flask charges to your liking by resting at any Site of Grace. My strength build requires minimal focus points – the resource used for magic abilities and incantations – so I usually allocate all of my flask charges to the Flask of Crimson Tears for health restoration. If you’re a heavy magic user, you will want to assign charges to the Flask of Cerulean Tears, which restores focus points upon consumption.
How To Find Map Fragments
At the start of the game, your world map will be entirely blank apart from the few Sites of Grace you’ve unlocked. To clear the fog of war and see a detailed version of the region you’re exploring, you’ll need to collect items called Map Fragments, which you can find at tall stone pillars along main roads or prominent intersections. If you’ve thoroughly explored an area and are still missing the associated map fragment, open your map and zoom in, looking for a tiny icon resembling a pointed stone pillar. These icons will only appear after you’ve visited the area and subsequently removed the fog of war.
Don’t Miss The Tutorial
You might want to skip the tutorial in Elden Ring. After all, there’s a fantastic world waiting for you to explore. But don’t skip the tutorial. It takes less than five minutes and will teach you how to use incantations, counterattacks with a sword and shield, stealth takedowns, and many more fundamentals like the two-handed weapon stance, which is required to use special skills called Arts of War. The Elden Ring tutorial is located in the Stranded Graveyard, the cave you wake up in at the start of the game. There’s a spirit sitting in a chair on the edge of a precipice - climb down the rock face and begin.

Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama has said that he'd like to someday return to psychological horror and create another game like his spooky classic.
Talking as part of a Q&A session about his new studio, Bokeh Game Studio, Toyama explained that he does hope to one day create something similar to Silent Hill, but that right now he has the ability to make something more action-packed, and so that's what he wants to chase with Bokeh's first game, Slitterhead.
"I want someday to do something with some classic psychological horror themes like I did with Silent Hill," he said. "However, I’d rather do that when working with really limited resources, such as budget or having to focus on one individual. Right now, we have staff with the ability to work on action. I want to leverage their skills to go in another direction."
"Still, I also want to make something more personal someday," he concluded.
Slitterhead features action and combat sequences, but also involves aspects of more cerebral horror. "I wanted a game that could be enjoyed for its action, yet whose concept doesn’t solely revolve around killing enemies," Toyama explained. "It conflicts with the mind, making the players reluctant to enter certain fights. I want to achieve both action and drama with this game."
So while Slitterhead won't be like Silent Hill, there's still more to the game than just fighting human-eating monsters. Bokeh aims to use horror to "deepen the sense of immersion for the player" and won't just focus on gore.
Platform: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC Publisher: Bandai Namco Developer: From Software Release:
Elden Ring is finally out after years of anticipation and it seems the hype that’s been building since its announcement in 2019 has paid off for From Software.
That’s because less than 24 hours after release, Elden Ring’s Steam numbers (courtesy of SteamDB, which tracks the numbers of players in a game) are already nearly six times greater than From Software’s previous all-time high. That previous high resides with Dark Souls III, which has a peak playerbase of 129,975. Elden Ring’s current all-time high is a whopping 764,835, which is roughly 5.9 times higher than that of Dark Souls III.
It’s an impressive feat but not one that’s necessarily surprising. Elden Ring received a 10 out of 10 from Game Informer, and we’re not the only outlet to have given it such high praise. In fact, the official Elden Ring Twitter account posted an image with some of the 10 out of 10 reviews the game has received and it’s so wild that it almost seems like photoshop (it isn’t – Elden Ring is just that good, it seems):
With this guidance in mind, undertake a new journey with us, Tarnished.
For reference, here’s a breakdown of From Software’s all-time high SteamDB numbers for its previous Souls-like titles released on PC:
Elden Ring: 764,835
Sekiro: 125,315
Dark Souls III: 129,975
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin: 12,106
Dark Souls II: 79,528
Dark Souls Remastered: 24,501
Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition: 11,259
Another thing to keep in mind is that these player counts are just on PC. There are still loads of people playing on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, which means there are likely millions playing From Software’s latest at this very moment.
What is Martha is Dead? Three words that neither Batman nor Superman ever want to hear. I’m sorry, but I feel the need to open this review with a joke since things are going to get pretty dark from here. Martha is Dead spins a torturous tale of psychological horror that focuses on the tragic death of a young woman and the subsequent mental and emotional torment suffered by her surviving twin sister, all set against the backdrop of one of the most harrowing times in human history, World War II. This feel-bad romp takes you on a trip through a small but fastidiously crafted slice of Italian countryside and into body horror-heavy nightmares that are not for the squeamish. It’s an engrossing and at times gruesome five-hour journey, but one that left me feeling slightly more perplexed than I was perturbed by the time I had reached its end.
After she discovers the body of her identical twin Martha drowned in a lake near her family home, Giulia inadvertently assumes her sister’s identity when her grieving mother mistakes her for the wrong sibling. Knowing that Martha has always been the favourite child, Giulia neglects to clear up the confusion and instead pretends to be Martha while investigating the suspicious circumstances around her sister’s death. It’s the combined stresses of living a lie while also uncovering the disturbing details surrounding the real Martha’s demise that drags Gulia down into the depths of madness, turning her into an increasingly unreliable narrator and making for a gripping ordeal as her genuinely distressing dreams become indistinct from her grief-stricken reality.
Fatal Frame
Unraveling the mystery surrounding Martha’s death relies largely on heading to specific spots around the family estate, taking photos with a vintage camera or recovering lost rolls of film, and returning to a basement darkroom in order to develop each shot. Giulia’s camera, which can be augmented with additional lenses and flashbulbs, isn’t just an excuse for yet another in-game photo mode — it also provides an opportunity for the ominous atmosphere to get under your skin in subtle ways, with infrared film revealing hidden messages, and demonic moans and whispers seeping in from the woodland surroundings while your peripheral vision is obscured by the confines of the camera’s viewfinder.
Manipulating the camera’s aperture setting and carefully completing the steps to process film affords you the most hands-on freedom in Martha is Dead, since almost every other story objective is of the strict go-here-and-collect-that variety. An optional task that allowed me to decipher a telegraph message sent via Morse code was the one stimulating exception, and I wish there were a few more puzzle-solving sections like it along the way to make me feel a bit more involved in the investigation side of things. Yet while there might not have been much of an incentive to analyze every inch of its environment, I did appreciate the work put into reinforcing its 1944 setting, such as the daily newspapers and ambient radio broadcasts detailing the horrors unfolding across Europe.
Martha is Dead features some actions that are distressing enough to make a Mortal Kombat fighter soil their NetherRealms.
Listening to news from the World War II frontline is one of the least disturbing experiences in Martha is Dead, however, since many of its story chapters are punctuated by grisly interludes that make Heavy Rain’s infamous finger severing scene seem about as startling as a stubbed toe. Some of these moments are entirely passive, such as stumbling upon the freshly dismembered corpse of a landmine victim in the woods, while others are more interactive - forcing you to manually carve the skin off a certain character’s face using the jagged edge of a necklace pendant, for instance. These are a couple of the comparatively mild examples, and indeed Martha is Dead features some actions that are distressing enough to make a Mortal Kombat fighter soil their NetherRealms.
Super Marionette
As shocking as these moments may be, I ultimately found them to leave less of a lasting impression than the peculiar late game puppeteering sequences that occur on the mechanical stage found on Giulia’s bedroom floor. By manipulating marionettes of her family members, Giulia is able to relive repressed memories from her childhood, with the blow from each traumatic act softened somewhat when portrayed by Giulia’s playful mimicry of her mother and father. Aside from being wonderfully distinct departures in a visual sense, these miniature performances brought invaluable insight into Giulia’s upbringing, which in turn better contextualized the violent visions she suffers over the course of Martha is Dead’s story.
Other storytelling tricks are less effective, though, such as the sections that send you running through a series of forked paths marked by contrasting words you need to choose between in order to complete an unknown phrase, annoyingly forcing you to restart if you guess incorrectly. These cumbersome detours aren’t the only ingredients in Martha is Dead that feel unnecessary, much like the in-game bicycle which seems to move only slightly faster than Giulia’s running speed despite being noticeably more unwieldy to steer.
Still, it’s the broadly ambiguous nature of Martha is Dead’s storytelling that contributed most to me feeling somewhat underwhelmed by its outcome, despite being consistently intrigued for the bulk of its journey. As Giulia’s mental state continues to unravel and further casualties are inflicted, it becomes increasingly unclear as to what is a dream and what is reality. Who killed Martha? What exactly is going on? Is any of this even real? I don’t really have a definitive answer to any of these questions, and while I don’t have a problem with art being open to interpretation, it’s a bit frustrating to be presented with a mystery to solve that ultimately feels unsolvable. I certainly have my suspicions, but it’s like deducing the killer’s identity in a game of Clue, only to triumphantly open the case file envelope and have nothing but confetti spill out.

Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster includes a bizarre omission, adapting the lengthy original opening credits sequence – but leaving off the actual credits themselves. The result is a two-minute scene of watching mechs walk across an empty landscape.
The recent Pixel Remasters of Final Fantasy have come under fire for a few unpopular changes to the original games, but this might be the strangest so far. As you can see in this video, the original version of FF6 included a scene that invoked classic cinema, as a sweeping score accompanied the opening credits while we saw the kidnapping of key character, Terra.
As noted by shinimomi on Twitter (below), the Pixel Remaster entirely removes the credit text. IGN has independently confirmed that this is the state of the currently available game.
AHHHH
The opening of FF6 Pixel Remaster doesn't have the actual credits show up in the horizon so you just... walk.
The Pixel Remasters of early Final Fantasy games have all removed opening credits (presumably to avoid confusion about who worked on the original and the remasters), so this appears to be an intentional choice. The problem is , in a scene built entirely around those credits appearing, their removal turns a cinematic into, well, nothing much at all.
As it is, we now watch what amounts to a single animation play out for 2 minutes and 2 seconds, before getting to interact with the game again. We've contacted Square Enix for comment.
