Another cast member has been announced for Eli Roth's Borderlands movie, with actress Janina Gavankar. Unlike some of the other casting news we've learned about over the past several months, Gavankar's role will be for a completely new character.
The latest casting reveal comes courtesy of Deadline Hollywood, and the actress couldn't wait to share the good news, saying, "If you know me, you know that this movie will be a lot more than just another gig for me. I'll be carrying every writer, dev, voice actor, and gamer that has worked on and played Borderlands, in my heart, as I head to Pandora."

While Gavankar is playing a new character, it's no small role. As revealed by the site, she will be donning the mantle of one Commander Knoxx. If the name sounds familiar, she will be playing General Knoxx's daughter from the Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC for the first Borderlands game.
Gavankar has been in many roles through the years, including voice acting in games like Star Wars Battlefront II, the upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn sequel, and Afterparty. She throws everything she has in any role she takes, so I'm definitely excited to see how she brings the role of General Knoxx's daughter to life.
Regarding the movie itself, here is what fans of Pandora can look forward to with Roth's take on the Gearbox franchise:
Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistent wiseass robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. The actress is joined by Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Jack Black as Claptrap, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, and Kevin Hart as Roland.
