A slew of new details about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s season 2 have leaked, and the culprit is none other than the official Call of Duty website.
Spotted by Eurogamer, the information was quickly removed after being published to Call of Duty’s site, but that didn’t stop the internet from grabbing every morsel of information, including details on season 2’s battle pass.
Perhaps the most notable addition to season 2 of Call of Duty’s multiplayer is what appears to be fan-favorite map Rust, the tight spiritual successor to Shipment set in a sandswept oil rig in Afghanistan. We catch a quick glimpse of the map in a video spotted in the leak. You can spot that video here.
Call of Duty news site CharlieIntel also discovered an AR card depicting Rust in all its glory, adding weight to the suspicions that the map will return.
Two new guns are coming to the already wide arsenal of weapons, too, and it looks like SMG fans will feel the most appreciated here. The GRAU 5.56 is described as “lightweight, maneuverable and full of potential” while the STRIKER 45 is “hard-hitting and long-range SMG,” something that will make those longer sightlines even more treacherous.Rust returns! https://t.co/Ydjg4Pb2iX pic.twitter.com/sMTTg3gdQX

If you didn’t happen to hear, Activision’s Q4 earnings report indicated that Call of Duty is earning more money from its newly-implemented battle pass system, following the removal of its previous season pass and loot box systems. No surprise, Activision and Infinity Ward are continuing with season 2’s battle pass. According to the leaked information, it’ll be an identical 100-tier system that you can buy access to with 1,000 COD Points (certain tiers are free), or you could spring for the 2,400 COD Point version that will let you skip past 20 tiers immediately.
According to one image of the season 2 battle pass, you’ll be able to earn “up to” 1,300 COD Points, which would let you buy the next season’s battle pass essentially for free, so long as you’re willing to put in the time.

A slew of other additions are on the way, including a new Ghost operator skin, based on the much-loved character design from Modern Warfare 2. Ghost is rocking that classic skull balaclava, though if I may say so, his choice of face wear looks even creepier on modern day consoles.
According to the leaked information, tier 100 is a special version of Ghost wearing what looks like a hood and gear designed for desert engagements. We’re getting an assortment of other new operator skins for previously established characters, including for Minotaur, Zane, and at least a couple others. New weapon blueprints are on the way as well, including this nifty western-themed skin for the MK2 carbine.
Beyond that, a slew of smaller additions, like more sprays, XP tokens, and other cosmetic goodies look to be available in the season 2 battle pass.
In other Activision news, the company is planning on releasing “several” remasters in 2020. Activision Blizzard has also signed an exclusive streaming deal with YouTube for all Call of Duty League and Overwatch League broadcasts.
