Microsoft Edge Adds SkiiFree-like Surf Game Directly Into the Browser

If you were around for SkiFree, a Microsoft-created video game released in 1991 for the company’s Entertainment Pack 3, you probably enjoyed the surfing Easter egg the company hid in its Edge browser last year. Microsoft has now made the SkiFree-like surfing game an offline Edge browser game. Last year to promote the unveiling of a new Edge browser logo Microsoft developers hid a surfing game heavily reminiscent of SkiFree. Microsoft employees hid the game and only users who deciphered their clues via puzzles and secret images were able to play the game. But now that game will be available to anyone on the Edge browser. Edge users can find the game at edge://surf. The new version now supports three new modes including a time trial, support for keyboard, mouse, touch, or gamepad, and local high scores. Check out the game in action in the tweet below. There’s no online functionality, but as a nice little Easter egg that’s available whenever you’re bored, it’s not a bad experience. The surfing game was added as part of a new developer build for Microsoft Edge such as a Share button, and other more browser-specific features that aren’t related to the fun surf game. Check it out if you’re running the latest version of Edge. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Kim is a reporter for IGN.
