Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was October 2018’s best-selling game in North America, beating out Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 in this highly-competitive month.
Not only did Black Ops 4 become the best-selling game of the month, it almost instantly became the best-selling game of the year, and its launch month dollar sales are the eighth highest on record since NPD began tracking game sales in 1995. Black Ops 4 was the best-selling game of October on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Though exact numbers weren’t provided in NPD’s official report, we do know that Red Dead Redemption 2 only had nine days that it was on sale in NPD’s October sales window ending on November 3. These launch month sales were more than triple what the original Red Dead Redemption sold in its launch month, and it’s already the second best-selling game of the year.
