Next Level Racing, a company specializing in making racing simulator cockpits, posted a photo on its official Instagram account yesterday asking fans which racing game they’re most looking forward to in 2020. Next Level Racing used logos for upcoming games like Automobalista 2, F1 2020, Dirt 5, and a logo that looked like Gran Turismo 7. Only there’s no Gran Turismo 7 announced. After publishing the photo and kicking off speculation that a new Gran Turismo game was coming in 2020, Next Level Racing deleted the image and issued a statement claiming they do not know of any new Gran Turismo game, and that the company used a mock-up logo found online. Next Level Racing also blamed the media for creating unnecessary speculation about a new game. (via WCCFTech)[/caption] “Our team has recognized that a recent post by us using a logo has been misinterpreted by media and it does not reflect any information from our end, and we deny knowing any information regarding the launch of [Grand Turismo 7],” Next Level Racing said in a statement. “There have been assumptions made in the media that are quite simply untrue. Due to this, we have decided to take down our previous social post.” Next Level also added at the end, “Our Graphic Design Department used the mock logo that is circulated on the internet.” [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/07/02/the-evolution-of-gran-turismo"] IGN reached out to Sony regarding the appearance of the Gran Turismo 7 logo but have not heard back in time for publication of this story. Whether the media is at fault for Gran Turismo 7 rumors is another matter. Although internet rumors are a part of the news cycle, it doesn’t help if a company publishes a mock logo for a game that hasn’t been announced alongside very real logos of games that have been announced. This could create unnecessary assumptions. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Kim is a reporter for IGN.
